TikTok star Julian Bass signs with talent agency

Just earlier this month, on July 2, Julian Bass tweeted,if y’all can retweet this enough times that Disney calls, that’d be greatly appreciated.” The post included a video of Bass showcasing his visual effects talent. He transforms from Jedi to Spiderman, and more, to the soundtrack of Harry Styles’ “Watermelon Sugar.”

Bass’ plea to the internet worked. On July 21, Deadline announced talent agency ICM Partners signed the VFX creative for representation. This comes after Bass’ tweet garnered over a million likes and nearly 600,000 retweets and comments. He started building a steady following over on TikTok last fall and has amassed nearly 1 million followers on the video platform. Disney’s executive chairman Bob Iger was on to something when he replied to Bass’ July 2 tweet: “The world’s gonna know your name!!!”

The 20-year-old Georgia State University student’s success is a prime example of how teens and young adults can use social platforms to their advantage. Apps like TikTok and Twitter are proving to be more than a waste of time. They are accessible spaces for young creatives to showcase their talent without the traditional barriers imposed by the entertainment world. Watching Bass’ quick presentations of his talents are a joy. See below our 5 favorite TikToks from the VFX artist!
