The coconut oil craze has lived and fazed out over time. While California and other places around the world prepare to hit our hottest days, here are some great summertime coconut oil uses.

  1. Hair masks!

    1. A great DIY spa day can be done by making hair masks with coconut oil. After a long day of spending time in the pool, hair can become damaged or frail. Coconut oil masks can replenish! I have curly, naturally dry hair and coconut oil saves me. I enjoy putting in a dime-sized amount all over when my hair is wet. Use it before shampoo and conditioner. After rinsing it out, proceed with your normal hair care routine.
  2. Styling!

    1. Preparing for a long day of pool or beach fun? Have a difficult hair texture? Coconut oil can help. Using coconut oil to style braids, buns, or various updos can do wonders for your hair. My favorite style is to do French braids with coconut oil before hikes or beach days. It helps my hair keep its style and protects it from the environment. It’s practically like a leave-in mask.
  3. Moisturizer!

    1. After a long day in the sun, coconut oil can help soothe tired skin. I prefer to do this when my skin is dryer than dry. I apply as needed to my legs and arms. On occasion, I apply some to my eyelids when dry as well. Works like a charm!
  4. Makeup remover!

      1. Playing with lipstick, eyeliner, eye shadow, or mascara? I’ve got your clean-all elixir: coconut oil! As a performer, I have had to wear lots of makeup in my day. Coconut oil always easily removed crazy looks. After removing the makeup, your face feels nourished in comparison to other makeup removers, which can cause dryness.
  5. Coconut oil sunscreen!

        1. Coconut oil has a natural SPF. T However, the SPF is  fairly low,  so if you’re planning on spending hours in the sun, you would have to use another sunscreen. I recommend Sun Bum for all your suncare needs! They exclusively use natural ingredients.

I hope you enjoy these few tips and tricks! Coconut oil can be your next summer essential!
