In a historic vote, the Oakland City Council redirected $18 million to invest in community programs for alternative violence prevention on June 24, 2020. A coalition of 13 grassroots organizations lobbied and won this re-investment for the city. The Anti Police-Terror Project organized the Reimagine Safety Community Celebration & Caravan, where Oakland organizers and residents got together to celebrate this landmark victory with food, music, and art.

Culturas got a front seat to the gathering. Watch the story below on our YouTube channel. Subscribe to the channel to be updated on our latest segment: video reporting.
